A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust

Chapter 633

After watching Calliope in surgery for a while, the hospital director was genuinely blown away by her skillful hands. He lingered by the operating room, unable to help himself. He knew the Jewell family didn't exactly treat Calliope well, but seeing her step up to operate on Horatio, he figured maybe she and the family had patched things up. So, out of respect for her, he decided to check in on the Jewells.

"Mr. Jewell, Mrs. Jewell," he greeted them, his voice polite and measured. "I'm the director here."

Monty immediately jumped to his feet. "Oh, Director! Hello, hello!"

Zelda shot the director a sharp look, her tone suspicious. "So you're the one in charge? What's going on with the surgery? They've been in there forever. Why is it taking so long?"

"If you're the director, you must know what's happening, right?" she pressed, arms crossed. "Let me tell you, if anything happens to my son, your hospital won't hear the end of it. I'll make sure you pay, you understand? So you better make sure Calliope does her job right!"

Then, as if a new thought struck her, Zelda's eyes narrowed. "Why are you even here, anyway? Don't tell me the surgery failed! Did that damn Calliope send you because she doesn't have the guts to face us herself?"

"Where's Horatio? Is he okay?!" Zelda's voice rose, teetering on the edge of hysteria.

The director stared at Zelda in disbelief, at a loss for words. She was acting like a complete shrew. He hadn't even said anything yet and she was already threatening lawsuits.

He'd come over to compliment Calliope, to praise the Jewells for raising such a talented daughter. But all Zelda's words made it clear: she had zero faith in Calliope, as if she was just waiting for her to screw up and for something to go wrong with Horatio.

The director's brows knitted together. After a moment's hesitation, he said firmly, "The surgery is going extremely well. fact, it's a highly complicated procedure Most surgeons, wouldn't even touch it. Callie is the only one' here with the skill to pull it off."

“Callie's known around here as the Miracle Doctor," he added, his tone sharp. “She's incredibly talented. Honestly, I'm surprised her own parents don't know that."

He glanced at the family, frustration

clear on his face. None of them

care about how hard

seemed to care

Calliope was working; all he'd worried about was whether bol net

mess up. She'd gone out of her way to borrow the operating room for Horatio, poured her heart into this, and they couldn't even show a little gratitude. Worse, they blamed her for everything.

It was beyond disrespectful. It was downright infuriating.

"You really don't trust your own daughter or sister at all, do you?" he said, shaking

his head in disbelief.

"And for the record, you said if something happens to your son in my hospital; I'm liable? I could throw you all out right now, and then where would Horatio be? Out on the street, with no one to operate on him, and” that certainly wouldnt be my problem," he snapped.

"I was kind enough to let Callie use our facilities for this, and this is the thanks I

get? Are you here to make trouble or what?"

He had come over with every intention of congratulating them. Now, not only did

he not want to praise them, he was tempted to give them a piece of his mind.

These people were Callie's family? No wonder she kept her distance.noveldrama
