Adrian sighed as he watched Alice disappear in the distance. A short while later, he arrived home. Hilda, the housekeeper, rushed to help him out of the car.

"Sir... How are you? I thought you'd be back later... We were all worried!"

"Relax, Hilda. It was just a hit to the head. A few stitches, and that's it," Adrian said as he crossed the threshold of his house.

"Well, sir, I don't think you'll be able to rest peacefully," the woman said anxiously.

"Why?" Adrian asked, both curious and exhausted.

"There's someone here... We have a visitor," Hilda said nervously.

"Who?"

"That would be me, Adrian Brown," said Joseph George, standing up with the support of his cane.

"Sir... What brings you here?"

"First of all, what the hell happened to you? And I want the truth," Joseph demanded, his voice firm.

"Nothing... Grandpa, nothing happened here!"

"How dare you talk to me like that, you spoiled brat?" the old man snapped in fury. "Grandpa..." Alice responded, her voice quieter now.

"I came here to discuss something with you, only to walk into a damn horror show. Then I find out your husband ended up in the hospital because of a blow you gave him. Do you think this is normal in a marriage? Are you stupid, or are you just pretending?"

"Do you even realize that he's stronger than you? If he wanted to, he could've hit you back. But he hasn't. And you, you spoiled little brat, you don't value anything —not even your own husband. And I'm sure that, deep down, you're cursing me right now."

"Your parents did a fantastic job of raising you into a selfish, entitled brat... But this ends today! You damn child, you won't see another cent of my money. Not a single one. Not unless you prove that you're worthy of carrying my last name."

"What the hell are you saying, Grandpa? You can't decide that! My parents support me!"

"Your parents?" Joseph scoffed. "Your parents don't have a dime. I own what little wealth this family has left. So, I decide how that money is distributed," he said, eyeing his granddaughter with open disdain.

"No! You damn old man, you don't get to decide what happens with my money!" Alice screamed in desperation.noveldrama

"Oh, but I do. And I've already got my hands full with the Evanses breathing down my neck. I don't need to deal with the tantrums of a brat like you on top of it.

"Do you even know who the Evanses are? Do you know who the girl you messed with today is? Do you understand that this woman could ruin our family and make sure we never recover?"

"As for me, I don't care-I won't be here much longer. But my family, my children... why should they suffer because one of my sons failed miserably at raising his only daughter?"

"Grandpa, what the hell did Laura tell you? That stupid bitch met with my husband... That whore is trying to steal him from me!"

"Adrian," Joseph turned to him. "Is that the truth?"

"No, sir... I was just talking to her. Laura and I have a child together," Adrian admitted, already bracing himself for the storm he knew was coming.

"A child? What the hell? How old?"

"A little over a year. My daughter is at little over a year old... I want to know her, to be in her life. Her mother was simply setting the conditions under which she'd allow me to be involved."

"Did you cheat on my granddaughter?" Joseph asked, his anger barely contained.

"No, there was never any cheating. This happened long before I got married."

"So, you had a child with Laura Palmer?"

"Yes. My daughter is with her."

"Damn it! That explains a lot..."

"That bitch is a whore! Serves her right for sleeping around before marriage!" Alice spat bitterly.

"You shut the hell up!" her grandfather snapped, finally losing his patience. Adrian looked at Joseph, confused. "What are you talking about, sir?"

"Laura's grandfather came to me and demanded that my granddaughter-the spoiled brat standing right here-stay away from his. If she doesn't, he'll take action against my family. And that, by extension, will affect you too."

"Sir... I've already asked your granddaughter for a divorce," Adrian admitted his voice calm but firm. can't keep living like this, especially after what just happened.
