Chapter 1701
Mirabella noticed the silence on the other end and called out to Nellie again.
Nellie took the handkerchief away from her face, her voice as steady as ever, "I'll look through some medical books for you. Just let me know if you need anything."
"Alright," Mirabella replied with a decisive tone. "Thanks, Nellie."
Nellie felt a slight pang at Mirabella's words. "It's no trouble."
"Take care of yourself," Mirabella added before ending the call.
Standing in the garden, Nellie lowered the phone from her ear. The cool breeze brushed past her, making her frail figure seem like it might be carried away at any moment.
After a long pause, she lowered her gaze, tucked the stained handkerchief into her pocket, and turned to head into the hidden room.
Meanwhile, Mirabella had just set her phone down when Cassie, who had been holding his breath, finally exhaled loudly. "What did Nellie say?"
Mirabella raised an eyebrow, sensing his concern. "She didn't tell you to go back."
Cassie rubbed his nose, curiosity piqued. "I heard you say Chester's sick? What kind of illness could even stump you?"
"What do you think is the hardest illness to cure?" Mirabella asked, tapping her fingers on the table instead of answering directly.
Cassie, who wasn't really into medical stuff, shrugged. "What illness?"
Mirabella just smiled and took a leisurely sip of her juice, leaving him hanging.
Cassie's curiosity was about to get the better of him when the door to the private booth opened, interrupting him as James walked in.
"Getting bored?" James asked, settling down beside Mirabella.
Mirabella shrugged slightly, took another sip of her juice, and replied, "Not really, just checking things out."
After all, the downstairs area was filled with formidable figures from all over the globe, a rare gathering
indeed, James noticed her calm net
demeanor and raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his tone. "The trade fair isn't just about guns and ammo; there are protective devices too."
He recalled that the last protective device he assembled was inspired by this girlfriend of his, who claimed she hadn't seen much of the world.
Mirabella simply nodded, still not showing much interest.
Cassie, on the other hand, looked intrigued. "If I find something I like at the trade fair, will you get it for me?"
"Sure, if it suits you," James replied without missing a beat, showing his generosity.
Cassie shot Mirabella a triumphant look. "See, brother-in-law said yes."
Mirabella just glanced at him, too indifferent to respond to such a simple request. With her juice. finished and feeling a bit full, she stood up. "I'm going to the O restroom." noveldrama
With that, she left the booth.
The attendant who had been stationed outside the door gave her a respectful
nod. "Where are you headed?"
Mirabella gestured towards the signs in the hallway.
The attendant quickly caught on. "The restroom is at the end, just turn right."
Mirabella thanked him and made her way toward the restroom.
As she turned the corner, a tall man engrossed in a phone call almost walked right into her. Realizing the near-collision, he looked up. Upon seeing Mirabella's face, there was a brief pause in his emerald eyes before he politely said in French, "Pardon me."
What do you think?
