Chapter 1722
The old butler watched as Mirabella made her way to the door, curiosity getting the better of him. "Miss Mira, heading out again?" he called after her.
Mirabella, fresh off a phone call, gave him a polite nod, skipping the explanations. She made her way to the foyer, grabbed the car keys she'd left on the cabinet, and headed out.
It wasn't long before the roar of a car engine echoed from outside.
The butler stood there for a moment in the courtyard, shaking his head before retreating back into the mansion.
**Meanwhile, over at the Davis family's private hospital.**
Grady hung up the phone and turned to Dr. Ray. "Let's hold on a bit longer."
Dr. Ray frowned. "But Keir's hanging by a thread. His heart's already taken a hit from a bullet before, and he hasn't exactly been careful with his health. Now with another bullet wound in his chest... We can't keep pushing off the surgery. He doesn't even have a whisper of a chance."
Grady's fists tightened, his eyes burning with worry. The urgency of the situation was not lost on him.
A second surgery at the same spot was risky, and even though he wasn't a doctor, he knew the odds were slim. But that whisper of a chance... it was a risk he couldn't afford.
Gritting his teeth, Grady pressed on, "Let's wait a bit longer. Dr. Ray, please do whatever you can to keep Keir alive. Thank you."
He remembered how Miss Mira had pulled Nick back from the brink just last year. Maybe Keir could have that same stroke of luck. Dr. Ray sighed, "Alright, I'll give it my all. But there's something you need to know. Keir's blood type is rare, and he hasn't stored any blood here in years. We've got one pack left, but it's far from enough."
Dr. Ray hesitated before adding, “Even if we manage to get the bullet out safely, he could still bleed out."
In other words, that whisper of a chance was more talk than reality. Truly saving him would be a monumental task.
With that, Dr. Ray headed back into the emergency room.
Grady slumped against the wall, berating himself for forgetting about Keir's rare blood type.noveldrama
Beside him, Cole cursed under his breath, giving himself a sharp slap. "It's my fault. I should've taken that bullet for him."
Grady turned to Cole, noting the
blood dripping from his left hand et
"They
were ready for us. Don't beat
yourself up. Go get that hand looked after." .
BUM
Cole clenched his jaw and made his way to the nurse's station.
Once he got patched up, he'd find out who was behind the attack.
Ten minutes later, Mirabella drove like the wind to the hospital.
"Uncle, what's going on?" she asked as she walked in, her eyes darting to the lit- up operating room sign.
Grady looked at her with a glimmer of hope, but the blood issue weighed heavily on him. "Keir's in bad shape."
Mirabella's brow furrowed, worry etching deep lines on her face.
Just then, the operating room doors ng open, and Dr. Ray rushed slipping away. Is the doctor

Before Grady could say a word, Mirabella stepped forward, her voice steady and
clear. "That would be me. Let's go."
Dr. Ray's eyes landed on Mirabella, momentarily taken aback by the young
woman standing before him. "You?"
"Yes, me."

Mirabella's features were

Dr. Ray, despite his surprise, knew there was no time to lose. He followed Mirabella back into the emergency room.
