The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1726

Without the right technical resources, she couldn't conduct the experiment at all. If blood wasn't supplied within twenty-four hours, Chester would still be beyond saving. Mirabella pressed her fingers against her temples, frustrated for the first time that she hadn't studied more medicine, leaving her helpless in situations like this.

Just then, her phone buzzed. A voice call was coming through. It was from Willow. Mirabella took a deep breath, switched off her computer, and answered, "Nellie."

"Rea, did you just access the database?" Nellie's phone was still flashing warning alerts.

"Yeah, that was me," Mirabella admitted. She hadn't bothered to hide her tracks when she hacked into the family's database earlier. After a brief pause, she added, "Nellie, why has all the data in the database been destroyed?"

Nellie coughed a few times, her face looking paler and weaker, taking a moment to catch her breath. "Those were things that disrupted the balance of this world. Destroying them isn't a bad thing."

Mirabella was quiet for a couple of seconds. "So, you let Cassie out on purpose."

Nellie forced a bitter smile, knowing she couldn't hide anything from this kid. "Neither of you should be stuck here, nor should you carry the Stevenson family's fate."

"You've been tied to this so-called fate your whole life. Do you have any regrets?" Mirabella asked, her voice calm, like she was just making small talk. But it made Nellie on the other end suddenly tear up.

Regrets? How could she not have regrets? But some responsibilities were hers to bear. It was her destiny, her duty. There was no escaping it.

Nellie pushed down the dull ache in her chest and switched the topic, "Why did you suddenly access the database? Is something wrong?" Mirabella's eyes fell on Chester's blood sample on the lab table. "I need to run an artificial blood experiment."

Nellie was sensitive to the idea of artificial blood, her grip on the phone tightening. "Why do you need to do this experiment?"

Mirabella hesitated for a couple of seconds, then decided to come clean. She briefly explained Chester's current situation. "...I've got only twenty hours left."

Upon hearing this, Nellie felt like her mind had blown up. The data had been completely destroyed. No matter how good the tech skills were, it couldn't be brought back.

Nellie's hand trembled, barely holding onto the phone. Then, quickly she thought of something, her eyes lighting up with hope. "Right, Cassie, Cassie's blood can match with Jim's."

She spoke quickly, unconsciously mentioning a name she hadn't used in years.

Mirabella's eyes widened. "Cassie can? How come..."

"Saving him is the priority," Nellie interrupted her.

At this point, Mirabella didn't press further. "Alright."

"Hold on, if their blood can't merge, there's another method to make it work, but it still needs testing. Lonly know the basic steps. Whether it can be developed, Rea, depends on your luck."

Nellie took a deep breath, as if comforting herself, with a wry smile. "But... maybe you won't need that step."

Mirabella's gaze lowered, asking one more question, "According to your second method, if... could someone else's blood work?"noveldrama
