More Than A Favor (Elaine and Logan)

A Favor 192

"Hi, Elaine!" Kian greeted me with a cheeky smile, waving at me like we were old friends.

I froze in place as soon as I saw him. It was him-Selene's brother! Why was he here? What did he

want?

Judging by the playful smirk on his face, it didn't seem like he was here for anything good.

Mater

Tve been waiting for you for almost an hour. You're late today, Kian continued, shaking his wrist to show off his watch.

I took a deep breath, suppressing my irritation, and walked over. My legs were still

sore from last night, so I had worn flats instead of my usual heels.noveldrama

"Elaine, are you feeling unwell today?" Klan asked, his sharp eyes immediately picking up on my slight discomfort.

I faltered for a moment but quickly regained my composure. There was no way I was going to let him get under my skin. Ignoring his comment, I sat down across from him, determined to appear assertive.

Kian leaned back casually, ignoring my silence. "Didn't sleep well last night?" he asked, his tone dripping with insinuation.

I stiffened but kept my expression neutral.

Then, without warning, he grinned brightly and said, “I want to pursue you, Elaine."

His words hung in the air, as ridiculous as they were bold.

I didn't react. His over-the-top declaration was clearly meant to provoke me. If I got angry, I'd be playing right into his hands.

"Aren't you underage?" I shot back, my tone sharp and condescending. "If you want to pursue me, have your parents come talk to me."

Kian didn't seem fazed by my response. Instead, he leaned forward, his grin widening. "Elaine, are you

free this weekend?"

I ignored him, pretending not to hear.

"It's my birthday this weekend," he continued, undeterred. "I'll be an adult then. So, will you come?"

I stared at his smug face, barely concealing my annoyance. Did he really think so highly of himself?

"Kian," I said coldly, "I don't know what your intentions are by harassing me, but you'd better stop now. Don't waste my time."

As I spoke, I tapped on my phone and let my gaze sweep over his outfit. From his limited-edition shoes to his branded accessories, his appearance was a far cry from the scruffy look he had when we first met. Back then, he'd falsely accused me, and now he was flaunting wealth he clearly didn't earn.

"I'm guessing your sister doesn't know you're here, does she? Or your new brother-in-law?" I added, my tone dripping with sarcasm.

Kian snorted, crossing his arms. "Don't try to scare me by bringing them up."

I chuckled, unimpressed by his bravado "If you want to keep enjoying your current

lifestyle, you'd better stay far away from me. Otherwise, forget about branded

outfits-you might not even be able to afford flowers"

I wasn't trying to insult him. I wanted to remind him of reality, to make him realize how fragile his

current situation was

Logan and I were no longer together, and he was now with Kian's sister. But no matter what, Logan would never allow his ex to become involved with his new brother-in-law.

As expected, Kian's expression darkened. He stood up abruptly, glaring at me. "Don't look down on me I bought all of this with my own money. I didn't use a cent from that Mercer guy."

Really? I doubted that. I still remembered how Selene couldn't even afford a decent meal before Logan came into her life. Clearly, at least one of the siblings was lying.

But one thing was clear-they both shared the same narcissism.

Selene used Logan's money to maintain her facade, while Kian flaunted

expensive brands despite his lack of real standing. Whether he truly earned that

money himself was something only he knew.

I stood up and looked him in the eye. "Then I guess you're still somewhat of a man."

"Of course, I'm a-" Kian started to retort, but he was cut off by a knock on the door.

I turned toward the door, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw Ashton standing there.

Why was he here? Did he know about Kian?

A wave of nervousness swept over me. If Ashton was here to start a fight, things could get messy.

Ashton's cold, low voice interrupted my thoughts. "Ms. Hart, do you..."
