Chapter 1231
Molly was taken aback, "Uncle, did you hurt your eyes or your stomach?"
"Why do you ask?" Old Andre, the security guard, replied, looking puzzled.
Molly chuckled, "You're the first person to say my son looks like me. Everyone else thinks he takes after my Chad."
"Oh, I meant he's as fidgety as you," Old Andre clarified.
Molly grinned, "Uncle, I think you're ready to leave the hospital. You're more normal than most folks."
The room erupted in laughter, and the security guard grumbled, "You've always been restless; otherwise, your brother wouldn't keep teasing you about the coroner."
Molly pouted, giving her husband a playful glare, "This is all your fault, now everyone knows about me!"
Officer Chad smiled at his wife with affection, then turned to Old Andre, "Uncle, how are you holding up?"
"I'm doing fine now, but Officer Chapman, how about you? Who were those people? Have they been caught yet?"
Annie joined in the laughter, "Uncle, I'm alright. They're still chasing those folks, though they might not catch them."
Conner, who often hung around the entrance and had become friendly with Andre, said, "Uncle, don't worry, I'll cover your medical bills and any rehab costs. Just focus on getting better. If you need anything, come straight to me."
"No need for that, the department's already handling it. Watching the door is just part of my job, and everyone's trying to make ends meet these days. No point in wasting money," Old Andre insisted.
Molly coughed lightly, "Uncle, it's true it's hard to earn money these days, but my godbrother here has it much easier than me."
Old Andre looked puzzled, "I see him driving around every day; I thought he was just a drifter."
The so-called drifter muttered, "..."
After visiting Andre, Chad, on behalf of the department, and Conner, on behalf of the family, each slipped an envelope to Andre's family, insisting for a while before leaving.
Downstairs, Annie hugged Su Jingnian, gushing, "Sweetie is such a well-behaved baby, the best I've ever seen."
Conner snorted, "You've only seen one baby, your godson. Who wouldn't look good next to him?"
Molly chimed in, "He used to not let strangers touch him, but now, knowing Chad and I are around, he's calm. The other day, when I wasn't home and Chad was on night shift, he cried so hard he scared my parents."
Conner glanced at Sweetie skeptically, "What's there to cry about? I don't get it."
Molly eyed her godbrother, arms crossed, "Biased, are we?"
In a swift move, Molly took her son from Annie and placed him in Conner's arms.
Conner instinctively caught Sweetie, "Hey buddy, you startled me."
Sweetie, already familiar with his mom's antics, remained unfazed.
"Why are you handing your son to me?" Conner asked, feeling a bit awkward holding the child of an old rival.
Chad moved to retrieve his son, but Molly stopped him, "Godbrother, isn't my Sweetie well-behaved?"noveldrama
"Well-behaved? He can't even talk
yet. Such a little blockhead." Conner's words belied his gaze,
which remained on the little one, genuinely impressed by Sweetie's calm demeanor.
Molly smirked, "Yeah, such a blockhead, but sadly, you don't even have that."
What do you think?
