Chapter 1246
Henry chuckled to himself, pondering how to tell his godfather that he'd become so knowledgeable just by hanging out in his dad's office and his mom's study for so long.
"Hey, little tiger, dinner's ready. Henry, where'd you disappear to this time?" Annie called out, carrying a plate as she wandered through the living room in search of him.
At the sound of her voice, a member of the Nettleton family decided to stage a little drama. With a swift flick of his arm, a decorative vase went clattering across the floor, leaving Henry in complete shock. His mouth formed an 'O' shape in astonishment, and his bright, diamond-like eyes blinked curiously at his godfather. Mom always said if you throw things around, you'll get a spanking from dad! Looking up at his godfather, Henry figured it might be his godfather's turn for a spanking.
Hearing the commotion, Annie hurried toward the study.
When she opened the door, she saw the scene unfold: two figures, one tall and one short, both turning their heads to stare at the perfectly intact vase on the floor.
Conner inhaled sharply, frowning, wondering why it hadn't broken.
Henry blinked and wondered: Is godmom going to spank goddad?noveldrama
"Conner, what are you doing with the little tiger in here?" Annie asked as she walked over, crouching down to pick up the cuddly little guy, showering him with affection.
Henry immediately pointed at the vase on the floor, his speech a jumble as he tattled to his godmother, his tiny finger also pointing at Conner, "It went crash and bang."
Conner seized the moment to explain, "Annie, the kiddo was playing hide-and- seek, climbed up on the table, and knocked it over."
Annie turned to Henry, "Was it you?"
Henry covered his mouth and shook his head.
Conner thought: Why isn't this little guy playing along?
"He doesn't understand us, don't believe him," he tried to reason.
A small voice chimed in: "I can!"
The room fell silent.
Annie glanced at Conner's desk, which was cleaner than his face, and

Chapman had cracked the case. She cast a look at Conner, who felt guilty and avoided eye contact, his hands shoved in his pockets as he stared out the window.
"Really, blaming a kid who's not even two?" she teased.
"He'll be two the day after tomorrow," Conner replied.
Annie retorted, "Doesn't count until his birthday."
With that, she took Henry out with her.
Conner was left holding the vase, questioning his life choices. He called his aide, who was on vacation, "What kind of vase did you get me? It won't even break."
The aide, reluctantly taking the call, replied, "Boss, didn't you ask for the toughest, most durable, and unbreakable vase? It cost a fortune because you said your sister-in-law deserved something that nice."
Conner, filled with regret, wished he could bang his head against something. "Go
find another one just like this, but of the poorest quality, but still unbreakable."
The aide was baffled, "Boss, you're getting harder and harder to please."
"Conner, come out here, Conner," Annie called.
Outside, Conner found out what had happened: the meal Annie had worked so hard on wasn't to Henry's taste. What he liked as a baby and what he enjoyed eating now were completely different. Annie had been fottowing baby recipes, and after tasting how yummy it was, Henry cheekily hid his food after just a few bites.
Conner said, "I'll whip something up for him."
That evening, when Andre came to pick up his son, he found him munching on a hearty, spicy meal, his little face all greasy, while Conner ended up eating Annie's earlier dish.
