Chapter 1245
After mulling things over for a few minutes, the head of the Nettleton family suddenly had a lightbulb moment. He picked up the phone and called an executive, "Hey, where's our little rascal who thinks he's the king of the world?"
That afternoon, little Henry, with his chubby cheeks, was hoisted high by his godfather and made yet another grand entrance at the hotel.
"Annie, guess who's here!"
As the weather turned colder, Mia made sure her son was bundled up in the cutest outfits, each one as charming as a song.
"Sweetie, how did you get here? Come give your godmother a hug." Annie scooped Henry into her arms, admiring his nearly healed, adorable face. She playfully nuzzled him, "Conner, what brings our little tiger cub here?"noveldrama
Conner grinned, "Well, since we're both going to be parents soon, might as well get some practice with our godson, right?"
Annie chuckled, giving him a light-hearted nudge, while Conner beamed with a wide smile.
As they settled on the couch, Annie helped Henry out of his jacket to reveal his cozy little sweater. "Sweetie, how do you get cuter every day?"
Henry, soaking up the compliments, sat sweetly beside his godmother. His little mouth babbled, "Mom doesn't coo at dad anymore, uh-oh, daddy's grumpy, umm! baby got milk."
Annie's smile froze: How do I even translate that?
She glanced at Conner, who was lounging comfortably on the couch, relishing the moment. "Our little man says: His mom's busy studying at home, he's been a bit naughty, so his dad had to step in. I picked him up, and here we are."
"Oh!!" Henry pouted, acknowledging the tale.
Even though he'd been up to no good, his whiny tone made Annie feel for him.
"Godmother won't scold you, you'll hang out with me, okay?"
Henry, cozying up on the sofa, played for a bit. While Annie went off to make him some fish soup, his godfather sneaked over, "Come on, kiddo, let's go do something fun."
Fun stuff? Then why the sneaky voice, like he was planning mischief?
"Annie-mom!" Henry called out loudly.
Annie, busy in the kitchen, dashed out, "What's up, sweetheart?"
Since Henry struggled with "godmother," always ending up with "Annie," which happened to be her surname, fate seemed to have aligned for his baby voice to call out "Annie-mom."
Annie was over the moon, while Conner was a bit envious, "Why not try calling godfather?"
"Annie-dad!"
Conner, with a touch of jealousy, said, "...I wish for the peace and prosperity of a thousand summers."
Henry chuckled gleefully, waving his tiny fists.
Annie was absolutely smitten with this little charmer, while Conner felt a bit thwarted. He tried to teach him some cheekiness, but the little guy not only refused, he even called for Annie.
Back in the study, Conner spotted the incense burner on the desk and had no desire to linger. But the head of the Nettleton family wasn't one to let his plans go to waste. Seizing a moment when Annie wasn't tooking, he picked up the little bundle and whisked him off to the study, setting him on the desk. "Go ahead, son, have a blast!"
Henry glanced at the shiny desk, finding only something box-like, nothing else. How was he supposed to have his fun? Bored, he lay on the desk, his little bottom sliding as his toes tapped, stepping onto his godfather's chair, and then gliding down to the floor.
Conner, amazed, caught him by the collar, "Hey there, don't run off! Tell your
godfather, when did you get so nimble?"
What do you think?
