The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1694

Mirabella listened with a wry smile, giving Cassie a knowing side-eye. It was like she was silently saying, "Really? Even trying to pull a fast one on the old guy now?"

Cassie was at his wit's end. "Seriously?!" He'd already explained to the old man over and over that he didn't have a clue about medicine, but the old guy just wouldn't buy it. What more could he do? David, oblivious to Cassie's frustration, turned his attention to Mirabella. "Speaking of which, Mirabella, what kind of drug hit you? Why were you out cold for so long? Your pulse seemed perfectly normal when I checked earlier."

David had been racking his brain all morning, even calling his apprentice to dig through all the medical books at the association, but came up empty-handed.

"It was a special sedative," Mirabella replied, her eyes as chilly as ice. "Just a tiny bit can knock someone out."noveldrama

Santos was always careful with his concoctions. When she stepped into the mansion to save her friend, the faint scent in the air was just a ruse, harmless to anyone who caught a whiff. It was meant to trick her into thinking she was immune to his drugs, lulling her into a false sense of security.

The real deal came later when she was off guard, and he dusted the powder on her. The mix of powder and the decoy scent absorbed into her system, playing right into Santos's hands.

But Mirabella's eyes briefly flickered with a cold smile. No matter how clever Santos thought he was with his drugs, she could handle it.

"Was it custom-made just for you?" David asked, almost instinctively jumping to that conclusion. After all, Mirabella had connections with the famous Hart family, and there were plenty who would have a bone to pick with them.

Mirabella pulled herself together, her expression cool and collected. "Maybe."

David's face turned more serious. "Who's out to get you?"

James didn't look directly at Mirabella, but he was all ears, waiting for her answer. Mirabella just shrugged it off with a casual grin. "Probably just some folks with too much time on their hands."

David had a hunch that Mirabella knew more than she was letting on, but maybe she was trying to keep him out of it for his own good. Just as he was about to press her, Mirabella smoothly changed the subject. "Hey, while we're here, let

mé check your pulse again."

David let out a gentle sigh and held out his hand. "I've been sticking to your herbal

plan, and I've been feeling pretty good these past six months."

Mirabella placed her fingers on David's wrist, and after a moment, glanced at Cassie before pulling back. "I'll do some acupuncture on you later."

David nodded without giving it much thought.

Cassie, catching a warning look from Mirabella, was left scratching his head. "What now?"

What did he do wrong this time? After Mirabella finished with David's acupuncture, Cassie quietly pulled her aside. "Sis, what was that all about?"

Mirabella grabbed his ear with a firm tug. "All those years in med school, and it's like you learned nothing?"

"Ow, ow! That hurts!" Cassie's face twisted as he slipped away, covering his ear. "What's your deal? Aren't you supposed to talk, not hit?"

Mirabella snorted, unfazed. "I'm no gentleman."

"What did do to tick you off?" Cassie felt like his poor heart

couldn't take much more. "Sis, t

forget, you woke up so fast this time thanks to me!"
